Medical Priority

Do you use life-support equipment?

Lynches River Electric Cooperative maintains a list of members who, for medical reasons, are given priority for service restoration. The list is updated regularly to enable the co-op to better assist those most in need.

To be placed on the priority list, individuals who depend on electricity for life-support equipment should contact the cooperative with proper verification from a licensed physician. The verification is required to be updated annually.

Priority list accounts are identified in co-op records and at the meter, where a special seal is installed to highlight the account's status in the event of a service disconnection order. However, in the event of widespread outages, being on the list is not a guarantee of early service restoration.

Despite our best efforts, electric lines are vulnerable to storms, lightning and accidents. Your cooperative strives to restore service efficiently for all co-op members, particularly those on the life-support list. Our crews must work in an orderly manner when restoring service. If we don't methodically work through the outage, service could be lost again and outages might last even longer.

When at all possible, we give priority to those on the medical priority list. Co-op employees in the field receive regular updates on the status of service to our priority list members.

Please contact customer service for more information. Before calling to update records or request service, please have your account number on hand and verfiy your telephone number with the customer service representative.
