At the 2023 Annual Meeting, to be held Oct. 20–21, trustees for District 2, District 4 and District 5 are up for election. To be nominated, candidates must meet the qualifications listed in Article 3 of the bylaws and be nominated by 1% of members by Monday, Aug. 21.
LREC bylaws state the Board of Trustees shall be composed of nine persons. Three members of the board will be elected at each annual meeting of members for three-year terms.
In addition to the required petition, candidates must attend a board-developed educational program on cooperative history, operations and governance not less than sixty (60) days prior to the next Annual Meeting or have a minimum of three (3) years of service as an electric cooperative Trustee. The educational requirement will be offered at the cooperative on two (2) specified dates prior to the Annual Meeting. Candidates must have attended one (1) Annual Meeting in the past three (3) years.
