It was quite a summer for five local high school students thanks to Lynches River Electric Cooperative.
Danny Clancy, Addy Calhoun, Maya Miller, Aubrey Taylor and Porter Kearns were among 45 student delegates from across the state to participate in Cooperative Youth Summit, a four- day tour of their state’s capital and the surrounding area that goes beyond the traditional field trip.
The students toured the State House grounds, met Gov. Henry McMaster and sat behind his desk, and took a ride above the horizon in a Newberry Electric Cooperative boom truck bucket. Cooperative Youth Summit students also had the unique opportunity to team together and produce podcasts about South Carolina.
