Due to increased concerns regarding the sudden influx of COVID-19 cases in our area, the Lynches River Board of Trustees has made the decision to host the 2021 Annual Meeting via drive-thru on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16 at the LREC office in Pageland. Members will have the opportunity to register, vote in the board member election for the Member At Large seat, and enter for a chance to win several prizes during this two-day event.
October issue of South Carolina Living features key information
The October issue of South Carolina Living will feature a special outer cover with important details about this event, including a map showing how to navigate the drive-thru process. The front cover will also include your Annual Meeting Registration Card. The registration card and your photo ID are required for fast registration, voting and to receive your registration gifts. Registration is based on your member number, not the number of accounts in your number. If you receive duplicate magazines, you are not guaranteed to receive multiple registration gifts or multiple votes.
Representatives of organizations, like churches and businesses, wanting to pick up registration gifts on behalf of an organization must present a photo ID and written approval stating the individual’s name on the organization’s official letterhead. Representatives desiring to vote in the Board of Trustees election on behalf of the organization must have their name printed along with the name of the organization on the South Carolina Living address label. You can call our customer service line at 843-672-6111 during normal business hours to ensure you are listed on the account.
Process and logistics
Voting and registration will be available to members on Friday, October 15 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 16 from 7 to 11 a.m. Early bird members who register before 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15 will receive a rain gauge in addition to the other registration gifts. Members will enter the Lynches River Electric Co-op office through the entrance on Holley Lynn Drive. All annual meeting traffic must arrive either by turning on S. Arant Street off of Hwy 9 or by S. Elm Street. Members cannot access the LREC property by using Tory Road to turn on to S. Arant Street. View the map below for further clarification.
After entering the property, members will follow employees, signage and cones to register, vote and receive their annual meeting gift which includes a fleece blanket, stainless mug, ball cap, calendar and reusable tote. Once the process is complete, members will exit by turning left on S. Arant Street.
The LREC lobby will be closed on Friday, October 15 due to extra traffic; however, the drive-thru will remain open to accept payments. Members can also make payments online at LynchesRiver.com and via phone by calling 866-320-3119.
In order to protect the health of our employees, please do not attend the drive-thru registration and voting if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.
You could win a $1,000 bill credit!
Each member who registers will receive the registration gifts and be entered into the prize drawings. The prize drawings will be held immediately following the business meeting which begins October 16 at 11:30 a.m. via Facebook live. You can stream the meeting live at Facebook.com/LynchesRiverElectric. A recording of the meeting will also be posted to the Lynches River website. You do not have to be present to win the prizes.
Your attendance is important
The annual meeting is one of the best examples of how your membership matters. To conduct an official business meeting, our bylaws require a quorum, equal to five percent of the membership or 819 members. We hope you’ll consider making the most of your membership by attending this event.
The health and safety of our members and employees has always been and will remain our top priority. Though we are disappointed that we will not get to enjoy the same member interaction as we have in the past, we hope you will still come out and exercise your right to vote in this year’s board of trustees election. From everyone here at Lynches River, we’d like to thank you in advance for your consideration of one another’s safety, and we look forward to your attendance at the 2021 Drive-Thru Annual Meeting.
