See You at the Annual Meeting

September 30, 2019

The Lynches River Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting of Members will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 at the co-op office located at 707 S. Arant St., Pageland, S.C.

Registration and voting will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. Each member who registers will receive the registration gifts and be entered into the prize drawings. There will also be an election for the District 8 board seat between incumbent Randolph Mackey and petitioner Gary Sowell.

Only members with an active account in District 8 are eligible to vote. Look for your district number after your member number on your registration card. You can also find your district number on your electric bill.

The business meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by the prize drawing. Other activities include a health fair, an inflatable obstacle course, safety demonstration and musical entertainment by the Palmetto Blue Band.

The annual meeting is one of the best examples of how your membership matters. To conduct an official business meeting, our bylaws require a quorum, equal to five percent of the membership or 789 members.

This year’s meeting is especially important because our members will vote on proposed bylaw changes as Lynches River and other independent, consumer-owned electric co-ops around South Carolina work toward compliance with a new governance law for electric co-ops passed by the Legislature earlier this year. (You can read about the law at scliving.coop. Search for “New law updates co-op governance.”) Our proposed bylaw changes must be voted on by the membership at the meeting. The proposed changes to the bylaws can be found on the inside back cover.

Look for the Official Annual Meeting notice on the cover wrap of the October issue of South Carolina Living magazine. Be sure to bring both sides of the Official Registration Card with you to the meeting along with your photo ID.

The annual meeting issue of the South Carolina Living magazine should be delivered to your mailbox in the upcoming weeks.

We look forward to seeing you at your Annual Meeting!
